Modern Foreign Language is a curriculum area studied by all students, either French or German or Urdu is taught by specialist staff who bring the benefit of a native speaker.

Established visits to Paris and the Rhineland are offered to students to enhance their learning. In year 9 an alternative option to study Urdu is offered. A second language can be studied.

Key Stage 3

Students study either French or German which are offered in alternate years. Students continue with the study of either French or German during Years 7 to 9. Some students begin learning Urdu instead of either French or German in Year 9. More able students also start studying a Second Foreign Language (French or German) in Year 9. Short trips to France and Germany are arranged and students are encouraged to participate in these.
